It’s hard to find a good smartphone with elegant features to come by in the budget. Huawei’ s Honor brand launched its new Honor 9 Lite which is to be a reasonably priced quad-camera smartphone, in December 2017. It not only relies on the camera features but also with some really good standing out features.
Design and build quality
Honor 9 Lite is much similar to the company’s flagship phone of 2016, Honor 8. A good-looking curved glass back gives a mirror finish but is limited only to Sapphire Blue and Glacier grey versions.
The front glass is also curved which gives a comfortable grip. The frame along with volume and power button is plastic gives a lightweight to the phone and also helped for the low cost. It has a dimensional measurement of 151 × 71.9 × 7.6 mm(5.94 × 2.83 × 0.30 in). The weight is 149 g (5.26oz).
A very good display with Full-HD + IPS panel measuring 5.65inches with 18:9 ratio and having 1080 × 2160 pixels resolution. The panel has good brightness and colour reproduction.
Honor 9 Lite is powered by Android 8.0 Oreo through Honor’s custom skin called EMUI 8 alongside HiSilicon Kirin 659 chipset. It is also powered with Octa-core processor.
The RAM is either 4GB or 3GB with an internal storage of either 64GB or 32GB respectively. A microSD card is supported in the device which can be expanded up to 256GB.
Honor boasts about the quad-camera setups. Both in the front and back of the device, there is 13MP primary camera with only the rear supporting PDAF.
Both cameras have an additional camera (secondary) of 2MP sensors. The cameras have a quick autofocus and distinct landscape detail.
Connectivities like single band Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, FM Radio and micro USB 2.0 and also USB on-the-go are available.
The device has a circular fingerprint sensor at the back which can be used for unlocking the screen and to secure the apps and files. The sensor can also be used for gestures such as taking photos, answering calls and snooze alarms. The device also has the accelerometer, proximity sensors and compass.
Battery, Price and Colour Variants
The device has a non-removable Li-Powered 3000mAh battery. Colours like Midnight Black, Sapphire Blue, Glacier Gray, Navy, Seagull Gray, Magic Nightfall and Pearl White are available in the Honor 9 Lite. The device is priced at Rs.10,999.
Honor 9 Lite is a smartphone with striking looks and low weight with vivid display and competent front cameras. But still, the battery life could have been better. The rear cameras are just average and the UI is not very snappy.
