Not many people can manage to maintain a healthy lifestyle when they have a hectic routine. Keeping a job and making meals is not everyone’s cup of tea. Some housewives in the 21st century do seem to manage it somehow. Here are some tips on how you can too stay energized throughout the day with healthy meals despite having to work 9 to 5. especially for working professionals, it professionals, office workers and busy people.

Healthy eating habits for working professionals

  1. Check your BMI

This will help you ascertain whether you need to work towards losing weight or gaining weight. You need to put in your weight and height and the BMI calculators will tell you if it is normal, or if you are thin or obese.

  1. Never ever skip breakfast

You need to consume lots of protein in your breakfast so some of the options are –

  • Some fruits or fruit juices (freshly made)
  • Berries or make a juice of berries
  • Make a smoothie out of whatever fruits or veggies you have.
  • Paneer
  • Nuts
  • Milk
  • Yoghurt

Yoghurt is in the option but you can’t just have a few spoonfuls and call it a breakfast. You can have some nuts or berries with it. Also, drink plenty of water throughout the day. Drink a glass as soon as you wake up.

  1. Lunchtime

This is the time to increase the intake of carbohydrates. You should also ingest a lot of protein and fibre. Try to pack a lunch that you can make quickly but if you don’t have that much time then order something healthy while eating out. Preferably something from the list below

  • Brown rice
  • Vegetable
  • Vegetable soup
  • Lentil soup
  • Chicken
  • Salmon
  • Salad
  • Spaghetti with meatballs (if you have a meal this heavy then have a workout session after)
  • Paneer

If you are not full after eating your healthy lunch then have a fruit or keep some dry fruits handy to snack on. If you are unsatisfied with your lunch, then you will get hungry again soon and will indulge in an unhealthy snack soon. The full stomach is the happy stomach. You can keep a yoghurt or a banana with you in case you get hungry.

  1. Dinner

This might be the time where you either go out with your friends after work or come home exhausted. So basically there are high chances you will have something unhealthy here. A quick bite at home so you can rest or full-on heavy meal with alcohol with friends. So even if you feel like getting a little lose tonight, try to add some healthy component to your last meal of the day.

  • Vegetables (you had to know that was coming)
  • Soup
  • Side salad
  • Sushi with brown rice
  • Baked potatoes
  • Paneer
  • Sandwich

  1. Snacks

This list will be for everytime you feel like eating between the meals. You should switch to healthier options than junk food. You can have them before and after the workout too

  • Protein shake
  • A healthy smoothie
  • Raspberries
  • Dry fruits
  • Nuts
  • Raisins
  • Yoghurt
  • Bananas
  • Any other fruits
  • Juice (Drink at least 1 freshly squeezed juice every day)

Paneer, eggs and bananas are a healthy snack or after meal food item that you can have at any time during the day. You can have them for breakfast, lunch, snacks, even dinner. So stock up on them.

  1. Other things to keep in mind

Do not count calories. It’s fine to treat yourself every 2 weeks as long as you are following your diet diligently every day. If there are any dietary restrictions, for example, if you are vegetarian or lactose intolerant, even then your body will require the certain elements. To find an alternative to everything that you can’t eat. Just remember to have protein in the morning, carbohydrates and fibre during lunch, have a light dinner, preferably before 9 pm so that your body has enough time to digest before you go to sleep. Have the same time to eat daily and don’t forget to drink plenty of water throughout the day.

The best thing about having these lists is that you will not have to stress over or waste time deciding what to eat. Just stock up on these healthy items and pick whatever you see first and you won’t go wrong. Just to be on the safer side, get rid of all the unhealthy food items from your cabinets so you only have healthy options to choose from. So even when you are hungry and want to eat junk food, you won’t have it available and you might stick to your diet.
