Top 10 fictions series of all time
Now fiction series are for hardcore readers, those junkies looking for a long-term fix. We like to be up at 3 am with a book and cry about a character death that we have already read 7 times before, you know whose death I am talking about. And this may seem very sad if you live with us but we derive pleasure in being able to live in the fictional world where every one of our flaws and quirks would be looked upon in awe and where everything is possible.
So we will go through the list of the fictional worlds that have been providing love and comfort to us addicts:
- The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
All the plot twists will boggle your mind. Despite that, it is still a fascinating read full of badass children who go out to slay monsters and save their community. At the same time, there’s so many romances brewing. The best part about this series is that Jace says (Spoiler alert) “he never forgot what he’d learned: that to love is to destroy, and that to be loved is to be the one destroyed.” Harsh, I know. But then later in the series, he says “I can’t wait for love to destroy us”. Gosh, it’s so beautiful.
- Jack Reacher by Lee Child
Lee Child has come up with mind-blowing 22 novels on the character of Jack Reacher and a few short stories. These are not just filled with mystery and thrill, but it makes your brain sharper after reading about the amazing instincts of Jack Reacher. These books can be read as a stand-alone too actually.
- The Heroes Of Olympus by Rick Riordan
I honestly haven’t heard of a book of Rick Riordan that is not best-selling. He comes up with all the Greek Mythology stories in a modern way that is just compelling. If there is a fandom that can beat Harry Potter, it would be Rick Riordan’s books.
- A Song Of Fire And Ice by George R. R. Martin
So for all those who read it before Game of Thrones got famous, calm down. I agree that is this the most traumatic and compelling read of all time. Despite crying about so many characters’ death, it never stops us from reading it again and again. The book and the TV show are very different yet both in their own way are interesting.
- The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
You will be at the edge of your seat throughout the read. You will love the people Katniss loves and hate the people who hurt her. This series will bring out the kindness and compassion as well as the caveman inside you because you gotta do what you gotta do to survive.
- The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis
This is so far the most magical and creative world ever. If I had an option, I would open the door to Narnia and live there. There are 7 books, each more addictive than the last. It’s a world every child would like to go to and revisit in the adulthood. It gives you hope and makes you realize that you don’t need to have superpowers to make you great, everything you are is the stuff of heroes and you have the power to change the world.
- Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan
There are some books that you start loving after a few chapters and you just can’t stop reading it. But this series, you will get hooked from the first page itself. The writing is humorous, the characters are relatable, and the action is hypnotizing. Even if you are aware of the Greek Mythology stories, you still can’t put this one down.
- Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien
The imagination required here is unimaginable. There’s a whole new universe which is expansive, impeccable storyline, with character developments that teach you morals and life lessons. People are so crazy about the series that the fandom is crazy, and reasonably so. Read it and you will know why.
- Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
So complex, and so mysterious. Despite not being able to Sherlock Holmes, everyone who has read the series has fallen in love with the character. His character, the plot points, the story, I swear there is no flaw in the whole series. No matter where you live in the world, you must have heard of Sherlock Holmes even if you haven’t read or watched his stories. He is an ideal that people look up to, a metaphor to describe the intelligence used to its fullest extent. This series will make you more conscious of the world you live in and makes you observe everything.
You will never guess who made it to the top. Its….
- Harry Potter
There is a reason why every social media is covered with Harry Potter related jokes and accessories. It’s a mermaid’s siren that you should listen to, drown and die for. It is hands down, the best thing that has ever happened to the readers. If you don’t believe me then read it.
There are other series that also are as amazing, like the Maze Runner, The Inheritance Cycle, Divergent, etc. I am sure there are other great series that should be up on the top 10 list. Please share your favourite series of all time and tell us why it should be up here.
- Twilight didn’t make it to the list for obvious reasons. I am just going to leave it at that.
